New Construction in Montreal

From the foundation to the roof — building new, to the plans and to code.

At Construction Hibou, new construction and framing are carried out with rigour, from the floor to the roof, across Greater Montreal.

Building new takes a solid structure and a watertight envelope, raised to the plans. As a general contractor licensed by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ 5798-4619-01), we work with engineer's plans, obtain the required permits and carry out every step to the Building Code. We coordinate the trades and inspections so the build moves forward without gaps. New construction is part of our construction services.

Budget

How much does new construction cost in Montreal?

In new construction, the size and the structure lead the budget. Here's what moves it:

• The size and scope — the larger and more complex the building, the bigger the project.
• Foundation and structure — foundation, slab and framing weigh heavily on a construction budget.
• Materials — from structure to cladding, the choice of materials moves the price.
• Permits and engineering — engineer's plans and permits are part of the costs.
• Site conditions — access and the nature of the lot can affect the work.

Every project is quoted after a free consultation.

Timeline

How long does new construction take

New construction chains together stages that all depend on the weather. Here's what affects the timeline:

• The scope of the project — the larger the building, the longer the project runs.
• Permits and engineering — plans and municipal timelines are part of the schedule.
• The weather — foundation, framing and envelope depend on the weather.
• Material lead times — framing, windows and exterior materials have a supply lead time.

We set a realistic schedule at the design stage and keep you informed at every step through to handover.

Frequently asked questions

New construction: your questions

Do you work with an engineer or plans?

Yes. New construction is built from plans, often with an engineer's input for the structure. We work with your plans or point you to the professionals required, then obtain the permits.

Do you handle everything, from foundation to roof?

Yes. We take on the stages of construction — foundation, framing, envelope, systems, cladding and finishing — under a single responsibility.

Do you need permits?

Yes. New construction requires permits and inspections. As an RBQ-licensed contractor, we obtain the required permits and coordinate inspections throughout the project.

Do you also do extensions?

Yes. New construction and extensions are part of our construction services; we bring the same rigour whether we build new or add to the existing.

Which areas do you serve?

We carry out new construction in Montreal, Laval, the North Shore and the South Shore, across Greater Montreal.
